Oil painting

This is my first time using oil paint. Big difference using the wet on wet technique. It is going to be fun getting used to it. Trying to get the Liquid White to a thin layer is getting better.

I do find it easier to make my mountains. The blending is easier. The only down fall is that the paint dries slower.

Sunset

Last night,I started this painting.I started with the sky.I wanted a sunset  look to it.I blended about three different colors. I used Yellow Ochre,Alizarin Crimson, Prussian Blue, and white.I used an one inch brush to blend it together. I also used the same colors for the water as well.

I used a one inch round brush for the trees. For the dark ,I used Phithalo Blue,Alizarin Crimson, and Zinc.

I finally got my tree limbs down.I used a liner brush. For the bark of the tree,I used Zinc,Slate Grey, and brown. I added White for the high light. For the bushes ,I used a one inch round brush, and a number 3 fan brush for the grass.

Mountain

I have been trying to work on my mountains. This painting took me a day to paint.

I try to come up with different looks for the sky. I blended at three different  shades of blue. I used True blue,Sky blue, and Sky mist. For the mountain,I mixed Zinc,Slate grey, and brown.

Yesterday, I  had such a migraine headache. Pollen and I are not good friends. My sinuses were playing  havoc to my head.

I wanted  to keep painting. I made sure that I was calm and my surroundings were quiet. Today my head doesn’t pound as much.I am very sensitive to sound.

Spring Time

This painting has me thinking of spring. I wanted to add some flowers in the meadow. I didn’t want to add more trees to the painting, because it would make the painting to busy.

I wanted to add the little foot bridge to give it a little class. I also added the little buds to the bushes ,because it looked so plain.

I used a liner brush to add the flowers in the meadow. I wanted to add color to the painting.

I used a round brush on the trees and the landscape. I used an number 2 brush for the sky and part of the landscape.

Painting #44

This painting took me a couple of days to complete. I wanted to show my progress as I completed the painting.

When I first started the painting. I kept getting frustrated with the Northern lights. So,I flipped the painting and used the other end.I took my time with it. I don’t like to rush when I paint. I don’t like getting interrupted in a middle of a brush stroke.

My painting space

When I first started painting in September. I only had a few brushes and paints. Plus,I was using a broken chair and a clip on light to paint by.

At the time,I was just starting out with painting. I had to be creative with what I had at the time.

I collected mores brushes and paints. Plus,I have better lighting .I look for sales most of the time.I use empty candle containers to hold my brushes.I got my easel on sale after Christmas. All I need is a bigger space to paint in.

Not into it

A couple of months ago,I started a painting.Something was off about it,so I stopped. I wasn’t into the painting.Plus,my mood was off as well.

It wasn’t until a couple of days ago.I decided to pick up the canvas and start painting. Which only took me maybe two to three days to paint.Another mistake that I have made is to take a before picture. I can only show you the after.

Painting has become my outlet. Painting  helps me express my feelings.

Number 41

Ever since,I started painting I haven’t seemed to put my now many paint brushes  down.I never thought  in a million  years  that I could paint. Especially ,the way I do.

This the painting that I sold!!

It is like I am constantly having an outer body experience. There are times when I say,” Did I actually paint this?”.My paintings have evolved since I started in September.I have done over 41 paintings so far.I sold one of my paintings, which is pretty exciting! I still have lack of confidence in myself that people what to buy my artwork.
