Oil painting obsession

Like I said in my last post .I have done so many paintings that; I couldn’t  put them all in one post. I have at least 5 totes full of paintings that I have done.

I love oil painting! I think that I am obsessed. All I want to do is paint.I have so many things pop in my head.

I try to add more details to all my paintings. I started adding some fish to the water. I have been adding different things to make my paintings unique.

I had done two paintings in one day. One of my paintings took me three days, because I was frustrated .One of my paintings took me three hours.I guess it depends on my moods and how I feel that day.

I guess ,I have become a painting fool in some type of way. I also think it helps me cope with the stresses of life.

Update on Painting and Covid

Sorry that I haven’t been posting anything lately. After Easter,my brother had gotten better. He was sent to a rehab facility to get his strength back. As of tomorrow, he is being released. He still not 100% yet.He is slowly getting better. He is weak and has some issues with walking. He will have more physical therapy at home.

I was keeping my head busy. Painting is one of the best ways to deal with stress. It helps me stay calm.I put myself in every single painting. I am going to have to another post for the other paintings.

I lost count on how many paintings that I done since my last post. I have many that are my favorites. I also been trying different ways to use my brushes.

Painting  and Covid

Lately, I have been painting to keep my mind busy. My brother is in the hospital  in ICU fighting  for his life, because of Covid. He has two types of pneumonia. We found out he has diabetes. The doctors are saying that he might not make it. We are constantly praying for a miracle. I lost my Uncle in January from Covid.

Painting is only thing that is keeping me sane for now.I did two paintings of Cherry Blossom trees. One painting is acrylic and the other is oil.

Last night,I started this painting.I started with the sky.I wanted a sunset  look to it.I blended about three different colors. I used Yellow Ochre,Alizarin Crimson, Prussian Blue, and white.I used an one inch brush to blend it together. I also used the same colors for the water as well.

I used a one inch round brush for the trees. For the dark ,I used Phithalo Blue,Alizarin Crimson, and Zinc.

I finally got my tree limbs down.I used a liner brush. For the bark of the tree,I used Zinc,Slate Grey, and brown. I added White for the high light. For the bushes ,I used a one inch round brush, and a number 3 fan brush for the grass.

I have been trying to work on my mountains. This painting took me a day to paint.

I try to come up with different looks for the sky. I blended at three different  shades of blue. I used True blue,Sky blue, and Sky mist. For the mountain,I mixed Zinc,Slate grey, and brown.

Yesterday, I  had such a migraine headache. Pollen and I are not good friends. My sinuses were playing  havoc to my head.

I wanted  to keep painting. I made sure that I was calm and my surroundings were quiet. Today my head doesn’t pound as much.I am very sensitive to sound.

Spring Time

This painting has me thinking of spring. I wanted to add some flowers in the meadow. I didn’t want to add more trees to the painting, because it would make the painting to busy.

I wanted to add the little foot bridge to give it a little class. I also added the little buds to the bushes ,because it looked so plain.

I used a liner brush to add the flowers in the meadow. I wanted to add color to the painting.

I used a round brush on the trees and the landscape. I used an number 2 brush for the sky and part of the landscape.

Painting #44

This painting took me a couple of days to complete. I wanted to show my progress as I completed the painting.

When I first started the painting. I kept getting frustrated with the Northern lights. So,I flipped the painting and used the other end.I took my time with it. I don’t like to rush when I paint. I don’t like getting interrupted in a middle of a brush stroke.

My painting space

When I first started painting in September. I only had a few brushes and paints. Plus,I was using a broken chair and a clip on light to paint by.

At the time,I was just starting out with painting. I had to be creative with what I had at the time.

I collected mores brushes and paints. Plus,I have better lighting .I look for sales most of the time.I use empty candle containers to hold my brushes.I got my easel on sale after Christmas. All I need is a bigger space to paint in.
